Given the larger amount of snow this year, I was hoping to thru snowshoe the Enchantments for 4 days starting May 8. I hoped that would allow the snow to stabilize from winter snowpack to spring. Instead, we went from winter to a massive avalanche prone weekend followed by all of the snow bridges collapsing shortly thereafter. I tried heading into the Enchantments in those conditions. It was very dangerous.
So I now have 4 days to backpack somewhere in Washington. I was hoping for a mostly on-snow high alpine mountaineering excursion with the possibility of peakbagging along the way. I would like to find something along those lines if possible, avoiding any glacier travel or class 4 routes. Absent that, I’d take a off trail or on trail excursion.
Any ideas on where I can go?
