Hey guys, first time post from a UK wannabee ultralighter
Basically Ill soon be purchasing a pair of inov 8 roclite 315’s, their going to be my general backpacking shoe from now on. Im just trying to sort out my socks and various foot coverings (!) for different weather conditions
Regarding socks for them, for warm weather its a toss up between Smartwool Adrenalin Lt Micro’s and X socks Trekking Extreme Light. Anyone got any experience of these or similar socks? Any thoughts on the comparitive wicking abilities, coolness, warmth when wet, durability, comfort, smelliness etc?!
And for colder weather its between the Smartwool Light Hikers and the X-socks Trekking Expedition. Warmth when wet is the most important factor here. Not sure if you guys in the US have x socks yet though?
Lastly, Im trying to work out whether it would be possible to use these on glaciers, over high passes and steep snowfields in sub zero temps. Im going on a big trekking mission to nepal and pakistan next year so it would make my pack SO much lighter not to have to cart around big hiking boots to cover these eventualities. I was thinking about using gaiters with sealskinz, or perhaps even gaiters with vapor barrier liners. Im also interested in some neoprene overboots Ive seen. Any input on this would be really appreciated
Cheers for any help
