Id size it to fit over yr thermawrap … Youll prob want the ability to combine both in cold temps

just bring yr thermawrap in the store and the same layers as you would wear on the trail

Yeah i think i have the sizing pretty good for eb, sort of leaning towards the mb alpine light and dont have access to a store that sells mb.

For the EB sale you know is gonna happen

my med mb ex light is around the same size as my eb med downlight more or less

How much warmer though do you think an eb downlight pullover or sweater would be then my thermawrap?

Thermawrap jacket? … A lot warmer … Lol

a MB alp lighy would be even warmer

A montane antifreeze should even warmer

So with combined with the thermawrap would the downlight sweater be warm enough for most of the winter in the PNW?

Or would you recommend the mb alpine light?

Looks like the Anti-Freeze and North Star went on sale since I last looked. The NS is gone now.

These Montane jackets fit closer to the body and you can pull it in more with the waist cinch if you want. Under the North Star/Anti-Freeze I can easily layer up:
150g merino shirt
Pat R1 hoody
Pat R2 vest
Norrona Bitihorn lightweight shell

I'm sure I could get a MB Inner Parka under there too w/o compressing out the Montane. I am a small female and this is a men's jacket so I have room to layer and the athletic fit makes it all work for me.

Some of the baffles feel and look thin so I will hold them up in sunlight to have a closer look when I get a chance. I already held the LLBean UL 850 up to a light and there are no thin spots anywhere. I still like this jacket even though I'm not sure it's enough to keep me warm. * I run cold*

The Montane jackets have two – way zippers and come with a stuff sack. I haven't stuffed either of the jackets. The LLBean stuffs into the chest pocket.

I think my porky MH Sub Zero SL blows all of these jackets off the mountain in terms of warmth. It's just sooo heavy.

Thanks again, everyone, I eventually decided to nab one of the last Montane Anti-Freezes from Backcountry. It's on it's way, and I can't wait to try it out. I'm pretty confident, but if the Montane doesn't work or fit I'll try to get an Alpine Light or a Downlight on sale. :)

Cabelas is usually a season or two behind the latest trends, but they have a good looking down sweater out with the same specs as much more expensive stuff. I have something similar they made last year and it's AWESOME, as good as designer brand stuff costing 2-3x as much. Check this out:

edit-link is huge. Go to cabelas.com and search for "750 superlight down jacket"

RAB Neutrino is on sale @ EMS if the Anti-freeze doesn't work for you. I went with the Neutrino. Now it just needs to snow!

Have fun!
