Looking for a three season bag for the Pacific NW that is good for drying out damp clothes and retains loft when wet(primaloft preferably). Weight ideally would be 1.5 lbs but even the 40 degree synthetic bags weight 2lbs. As far as warmth, I wear most layers while sleeping to dry out or help dry out other layers so a 40 degree rating(which means 50) might be enough. The review of andromena strain looks promising, just looking for other alternatives.

Take a look at the MontBell series of synthetic bags. The No. 5 is just under 2 lbs and is good to 45F. The No. 7 weighs 1 lb 10 oz and is good to 50F.
I own two MB bags — both down. I find their weight and temp. specs to be fairly accurate — which is rare among bag manufacturers.
While I have zero experience with their synthetic bags, I do own the MB Thermawrap jacket and pants, which use the same insulation as the bags, and am very happy with them. The Thermawrap has gotten good reviews from others as well.
Finally, read up on these bags’ “super stretch” feature — many users have raved about them.
I have no first-hand experience with them, but the 40 degree North Face Propel and Scorpio bags might fit your criteria, although they’re both zipperless. A 40 degree bag would probably not be considered three season in the PNW, but it might be enough. The older, lighter, version of the Propel is on sale at backcountryoutlet.com.
Big Agnes offers three semi-rectangular bags in its Shield Series which use http://seamzero.com waterproof, seamless construction. They are the Nugget (45F, Primaloft, 1 lb., 14 oz.), Deep Creek (15F, 725 down fill, 2 lb, 13 oz.) and the Stillwater (0F, 725 down fill, 3 lb), I believe their shell is made with Pertex.

I think I’ll try the montbell synthetic hugger since I sleep on my side, thrash around, and sometimes with my knees up.
Plus even thought the #7 is rated at 50, it has 4 more oz of fill than the north face propel which has 10oz of fill. And the stretch system is supposed to make the montbell even warmer.
The only criticism of the montbell I have heard is the higher weight and poor DWR.
Dan,
I own two Montbells, and the SuperStretch system makes these bags warmer and more comfortable than just a list of stats could indicate. I bought my synthetic bags before I knew about Montbell, so I bought Snugpak Softies (3 total; -10, 0, +5)). Pertex outers, proprietary filling with some foil to push the temp rating a bit. They have a baffle system which unzips to widen the bag by several inches. I thought that was great, until I found SuperStretch. If I had to do it again; I’d get Montbell synthetics for wet/humid nights. In 2007 Montbell is going to 800 fill and a new cover; you might want to wait?
How is the breathability of the shell fabric on the hugger bags? Will it allow drying of damp clothes easily overnight?
