So is there a reason not to go with this bag other than the color?

It's a 5 degree mens bag (I'm assuming, or am I way off there?), weighs 2lbs, and is only 120$ with the extra 30% off.
This also doesn't sound possible for the price. The equivalent Western Mountaineering bag is 2lb 7oz, and even assuming a 15 degree rating, it's still an oz lighter than the western mountaineering equivalent. What am I missing here?

You can compare it to the men's version here: http://www.rei.com/product/780903

Looks like the long women's bag is about 3 oz heavier than the men's regular…given the same length and the similar girths listed, that's probably about 3 oz more fill.

I've have the men's 20 degree version for a few trips now, I think I paid about $15 more for it than what you can get with the current coupon. As the reviews say, it's awesome for the price.

This was the same deal/situation I bought the same bag for my daughter.

They are lighter because REI bags are cut real tight vs. other bag manufacturers, but for bean poles like my 11 year old it was perfect. – Highly recommended bag BTW for the $$.

Also, most of the big 3 do not use side baffling, so you can shift the down to suit the temp. REI bags use it, so you are stuck with 60% on top, 40% on the bottom.

And do not forget, if it does not work out, REI return policy rocks.

Make sure the Women's long – if intended for use by you – actually fits. I tried on a used REI Women's Flash +35* Long bag at a REI Member's garage sale and it definitely didn't fit my 6' frame. Fits the wife nicely though!

This REI bag is from a couple of years ago. This was before they started rating the bags according to the standard – so the temp rating is optimistic.

I have this bag in women's regular size. The tag on the bag says 16 ounces of fill – it is 725 or 750 down fill. The true temperature rating for the bag is probably about 25 for men and 35 for women.

Still a great bag for the price – just don't expect it to be a 10 degree bag, because it most definitely is not.

remember that the comfort level for women is anywhere from 5-10F+ higher than men

most manuf rate their bags, even their womens versions, to the lower limit for men … so add 10F if you are a hawt gurl ;)

rei recently moved to and en-rating system for bags i believe … these might be the over optimistic older ones …

still prob a decent deal …
