hey guys,
I was curious if anyone has used this pack to run. I am working on putting together and overnight running kit and am looking for some firsthand experience with this pack. It would easily fit the gear I have planned for it and I have seen some pretty stellar reviews. Any feedback would be great!

I love the pack, but if you see me running, you'd better run too, because something large is chasing me.
For me, it's been pretty good, but not great. The hip belt is a bit high on me and I do still get some bounce/movement of the pack.
I've been looking at the Nathan x-treme. It does not have a hip-belt but has straps that cross in front. It's 20 oz with the bladder, whereas the talon is 29 oz without one, but the Nathan has less storage (900 vs 1,300cu in).
I did some running this summer with my Osprey Talon 33, sometimes containing my full backpacking kit (~15 pounds). I absolutely love the way the pack interacts with my back when I run: The trampoline back keeps the sweat off, but somehow the pack is shaped to hug your back. It's also slim enough that my arms did not hit it when they swung.
I'd think the 22 would be even better.
That said, the pack does bounce. I think any ordinary pack will bounce when you run. The compression straps might help.
I was able to cut 6+ ounces of unnecessary straps and doo-dads off the pack to save weight and complication.
I thought about getting one of those packs that concentrates weight around your hips, such as one of the Aarn packs. Maybe someone here has tried that.

Hey Jonathan,
I have a blue Talon 22 for sale if you are interested. It was bought new for dayhikes and it has yet to see a trail– it has been serving school duty for folders and such this semester. PM me if you are interested.
Best,
Clint
