Does anyone know if you can purchase this pack yet? I was already to buy the GG Vapor Trail and then I read the BL review from the summer show and I feel that it is worth checking out. The New GG Meridian Vapor which is a cross between the Vapor Trail and Nimbus Ozone. What is your opinion on this.

Caution: No direct experience.

Methinks that if you are happy with your top-loading VT, why spend more money to introduce more complications? On the other hand, if you pine for panel loading, then maybe…

The Meridian Vapor is more like a cross between the Vapour Trail and the Nimbus Meridian and wont be available untill early next year. It’s quite a bit heavier actually than the Vapour Trail ( 2 lbs 14 oz vs just 2 lbs).

This is an email I received in reference to an availability request in the spring.

Hi Brad,

The Meridian should start shipping to dealers by 1 September. Thanks
for the
interest in our products.

I think the Nimbus Meridian, which will be available from september, is not to be confused with the Meridian Vapor which will only be available in spring 2007.

Thanks for the replys. I need to be in the 2.0 lbs. range for a pack..it just had to come out and jog my thoughts a little bit. I was thinking that new tech. of 1 lbs. more might have a trade off. Too many packs…how do you deal with this?

I emailed GG about it last week, and they said “early spring”. Same general topic: anyone used the latitude vapor? I know a lot of people aren’t stoked about an extra 14 oz. just for panel loading, but I think the convenience is worth it.

I have used the Latitude Vapor for the last two seasons and have been very happy with it. I tried it and the vapor trail side-by-side and was much happier with the way my stuff fit in the latitude, although I don’t remember exactly what the difference was. Maybe there’s more compression straps and the ability to strap on stuff to the outside (I usually carry my tent that way)? Maybe the volume is slightly larger?

I feed compelled to add that by the end of my trip last weekend I was pretty much loading the pack from the top.

One other thing: one of the tiny little pull tabs/strings on the panel zipper broke off in the store trying it out. Replaced those with real pulls.
