does anyone have one of these? i just got a PD30 and it seems like a great flashlight for trips where i'll be doing a lot of hiking in the dark, but i don't think mine is working correctly. i can only get it to work in the turbo strobe mode, nothing else.

I carry a Fenix LD20 every day, it is awesome. A little too heavy for backpacking though.

Try twisting the bezel near the lens. It switches between regular and turbo mode on the LD20. If that does not work, remove the back cap and make sure the switch mechanism is securely screwed in the base cap. Mine came loose and acted quirky until tightened.

I've got the PD30. With the bezel at the lens end fully tightened, you have the turbo and strobe modes. With the bezel loosened, you have the other lighting levels. Pressing the rubber button at the end switches between modes in both settings.

The only thing I can think to check is in the tailcap. If it is like mine (the LD models), under the spring is a metal disk that threads on, and holds the button switch in place. That metal disk can rotate ie screw in, and should have a tiny hole on one side to do so. If that spacer is loose, the switch doesn't work properly, so just maybe, that could be it. However for me, when that has gotten loose it doesn't turn on, I haven't ever seen it get stuck in strobe mode. I think the strobe should reset to turbo if it is off, so my guess is you will have to send this back.

You might be in a test mode. Check on youtube. It happens when you push hard on the lense. I just locked mine up while I was trying to remember what to do. It is a mode that the factory uses to test with. (I think you leave the batteries out for a while)

I left the batteries out for a few minutes and it started working again. I have an Ld20 and people locked them up sometimes trying to push a lense attachment down onto the end.

Im pretty sure mine is bad then. with the bezel fully tightened, all i get it the turbo strobe, no constant light. with it slightly loosened, nothing works.

thanks for everyone's replies, they were very helpful.

i had a call from one of the reps from fenix today, we talked over the issues i was having with the PD30. he agreed that the light was having a problem and it was probably a bad emitter.

the guy i talked to actually lives a few miles south from me. apparently he is going to personally drive up to fort collins tomorrow evening after work with a replacement for me.

now thats what i call customer service!
