I was rooting through the athletic pants at Goodwill last night and came across a pair of Zoic Santa Ana wind pants. I wasn’t familir with the brand, but I could see from the construction and detailing that they were well worth the $3.99 price :)

I little surfing on the Web showed Zoic as a manufacturer of mountian bike clothing. The pants I found are no longer made, but did originally list for $69. They are slip ons with ankle zips, good quality nylon with stretch panels down each side. I didn’t get around to weighing them, but I guess they are about 6oz. The nice features are the trim fit on the legs and articulated knees. They don’t balloon like athletic pants, yet they still have good freedom of movement. There is very little fabric to flap around or get caught in the brush. Take a look in the biking section the next time you go looking for wind pants.

I agree, bicycle stuff does crossover quite nicely. I found a Gill event cycling jacket on a sale table in Seattle cut with a longer tail in back.
Also the best base layers I’ve found are built around cycling [and other endurance sports] like the Craft line.

A lot of MTB jerseys have mesh back panels, since most mountain bikers wear hydration packs. As long as you find one without rear pockets, they are great under packs, and the mesh cuts down the overall weight. Also, I would imagine that there are some XXXUL guys on here who could fit an entire overnight kit in the 3 rear pockets of a road jersey… might be something neat to try.
