Looks like they are going to a new hoop frame like ULA. they say this will help with people who use inflatable pads and such. Sounds like me!
FROM SMD:
The new 2011 version of the Swift pack is just about ready to ship. We should be getting in new packs shortly and start filling back orders. There have been several significant changes to the Swift '11 model.
A number of the current Swift users wanted the hip belt to be optional. So we've split the pocket belt from the Swift and it'll be offered separately. The new pockets on the new Wing Belt are actually larger than the existing Swift. The new Wing Belt has a total capacity of 120 cubic inches of storage. This provides ample room to store everything that's needed in a convenient location.
The new Wing Belt is designed to transfer the pack weight across a larger area. This will make the pack more comfortable when carrying heavier loads.
An optional webbing belt will also be available if you don't need the Wing Belt but still want some load transfer.
A new optional Hoop Stay has been added to the Swift. This frame wraps around the Pad Pocket. It's curved shape easily conforms to your body. It'll allow the Swiftto carry more weight comfortably.
We've also reworked the attachment of the shoulder straps. The new configuration allows the shoulder straps to lie flatter as they cross your shoulders for a more comfortable carry.
All of the changes to the Swift are designed to make it the most configurable ultralight pack available. You can easily configure the Swift to adapt your needs on different trips.
Price wise the Swift will drop in price to $110. The new Wing Belt will be available for $30 and the new Hoop Stay will be $20.
Removing the hip belt drops the base weight of the Swift by 3 ounces. The Wing Belt will add about 4 ounces to the Swift. The new Hoop Stay will add an additional 4 ounces to the overall pack weight.
All of these components will be begin shipping in early November.
