I recently used the Aircore Dyneema Rope and was pleasantly surprised that the sub 3 ounce piece of rope was indeed, easily capable of hauling nearly 60 pounds of food and garbage over rough branches with no wear. The one challenge was gripping the damn stuff. The qualities that allow the rope to slide easily over tree parts also make it super slippery to the hands too. What’s more, the idea that a group of 6 hikers could utilize one rope to save weight…makes the weight-load convert the small diameter rope into an evil wire. We were able to utilize stout pieces of wood to wrap the rope around and use as a “handle” to pull the bags up…but it was difficult and took at least 3 individuals to hold the rope and balance while one person had to unwrap and rewrap the wood for each pull. Is there another way to grip this rope for easier use with heavier loads?
