Eggcate CCF, what happened to the walmart cheapos?

Last year my local walmart (in GA), had some 24-25" wide, light, blue colored egg crate CCF pads for like $15. I didn't need any at the time, so I never bought on.

This year all they have is the slick cheapo narrow generic "blue foam" where we moved to in NC.

Anybody know where I can get an in-expensive eggcrate CCF like the blue ones walmart had? Preferably not the $45 LunaPad from Nunatak, really looking for a 25" or so.

I'm not sure where you could find an equivalent, but you might want to note that they're not CCF: they're made of open-cell foam and will soak up water (I used one for a while). They're also very floppy, so not very good for providing pack structure if used as a frame, and thinner than the normal CCF pads and compress more, so they insulate less. They are softer to sleep on, though.

Different WalMart stores will have different inventory in different areas. Seasonal merchandise will come and go. There is also the possibility of one-time special purchases.

Some suppliers will come and go too. First, WalMart can absorb your entire production so you now have only one customer. Then WalMart periodically asks you to make it cheaper than last year. That is a tough position to be in, so you stop making some slower selling items with no profit potential to concentrate on the other items.

With analysis of inventory, WalMart can track the velocity of the turnover. It isn't just if it sold, it is how fast did it sell and at what margin (first price or markdown). The customers now buy it immediately because they know it may not last. How is that for marketing? If you want Walmart pricing, buy it now, or not at all.

I've seen some those things that actually had open cell foam on them— wanna sleep on a sponge? I suspect it is heavy, regardless of the foam used.
