Figured a link would be helpful as it is hard to find…

if the numbers are accurate thats a lot of down as a % of total weight … 40%+ … i wonder how they do it … montbells have a ~30% or less ratio

The specs do look good when you factor in the full zip, has anyone heard anything about the Flight material.

I have ordered a PHD Ultra Pullover and the day break looks like it might do the job better as I prefer a full zip.

I would think it's a 7D fabric similar to montbell's new windshirt.

Basically a down jacket is just two windshirts sewn together and stuffed with down. That gives us only 2.2 oz per layer to make this jacket. Montbell's new Tachyon is 2.4oz (I figure losing the hood and gaining a full zipper is a wash on weight).

Since we only need one zipper for two layers, you save some weight there. Also, you get extra weight from all the extra stitching for the sewn through baffles.

Anything more than 7-Denier or similar weight fabric just won't get you the low weights that FF claims.

Why don't they list it in their jacket listing?

If I remember correctly, FF's specs are always a good bit lighter than actual weight. Seems like this jacket is closer to 9-10 oz. Could be way off here.

Edit: Didn't notice the original post was two yrs ago. Looks like FF updated their site with an increased weight since then.
