Do most 1 liter soda and water bottles have the same thread size as 2 liter soda bottles? I don’t have a 2 l bottle to experiment on.
(I ask because I want to know if I can use the First Need XL Narrow Mouth Direct Connect Adapter on 1 liter size bottles. It does fit 2 l bottles.)
Just happened to have a 20oz mountain dew and a 2 liter sprite in the house. Caps were identical thread size.

Well, maybe the threads are the same, but the cap height is different.
same diameter. cap height on 2L differ, some have the same as smaller bottles, but IME can be used interchangeably without worries (ever larger cap on smaller threads).
If it fits Platypus bottles, it will work fine. My one remaining Platypus filter connector works just fine on either a 1 L soda bottle or the 20 oz. size. I haven't tried it on a 2L bottle.
I have also used soda bottle caps when I've lost the top to a Platy bottle.
