I'm about to pull the trigger on purchasing the MB Alpine Light jacket however I'm a little concerned with fit. Most of the jackets I have tried on thus far either fit too snug chest or the sleeves are too long.

I am 5'8" and 175#. Any recommendations on brands/specific jacket that may fit my frame better?

Thanks in advance.

I'm bigger than you, and have noticed the same problem for Montbell's stuff. Brands that fit well, especially across the chest or shoulders are: Eddie Bauer, Cabelas, and Marmot. They've worked for me, at least.

In *general* I go up one size with MontBell or Montane clothing. If you are working with a dealer, call them and get a measurement across the armpits. Compare that to stuff you have that fits. It will get you in the ballpark. Ultimately, buy from a source that will take a return.

Check with Second Ascent in Seattle. They have a bunch of MontBell stuff on hand. Nice people too.

I have to size up with Montbell jackets. I wear a large in Western, Patagonia and Hardwear.
