    @callmeammo

    Anybody know where to fly fish in or around Sacramento? Somewhere within an hour an easily accessible for a regular car. I don't mind a hike though.

    I have the Hane so smaller creeks would probably be best.

    Thanks

    Hi Jeff,

    Start with these guys, they know the region.

    Basically, east into the foothills and Sierra for small water trout. Best after the first fall storms get the water flowing again.

    Good luck!

    Jeff —

    You are in luck. There are SO many places to fly fish within an hour of sacramento. Try heading to Kienes fly shop for more information. Depending on time of year & Season, You could try the American River south of Folsom for Shad around May, The Feather & Yuba for trout, salmon and steelhead, the delta for Stripers & LMB & Panfish or the sierras for a bit more of drive.

    Any way you choose, you're in a good spot for fly fishing.. Hope this helps.

    get up past forrest hill, drop down the mumford bar trail, it's not so bad down there.
    for more exclusivity, try the blue xxx(can't remember) trail out of iowa hill, it's very nice at the bottom of that one, and there's a car/truck route still open to the scenic river border.
