Hi there. I recently got pounded by a crazy hailstorm in the High Sierra in my trusty old Tarptent Squall 1, and the result was about 10 little holes in the roof (my friends new Virga 2 came through unscathed).

The holes are quite small, so I’m wondering if just putting some paper underneath the holes and painting them with Silnet would work (pull the paper off once dry). I thought I read that somewhere. I think they are small enough that any additional fabric added on as a patch would be unecessary.

Any thoughts on repairing small holes in a silnylon tarptent roof?

Hi Lawton,

Give us a shout if you want some siliconized ripstop scrap (no charge). Might be best to cut little patches from the scrap and glue them (with straight silicone) over the holes.

Background: I make silnylon tents.

So … take up Henry’s offer. It’s pretty easy to do, and it works well. But! smooth down well and allow 72 hours for full curing.

Cheers
