If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Canon must be ablush at Nikon's G11 clone, the new P7000. Full tests await but it looks as though Nikon has corrected most of the P6000's lengthy flaw list. Sizewise the two are effectively the same but the Nikon is a couple ounces lighter.

Neither is my cup o' tea, but three years ago I'd have pawned my dog to get ahold of one or the other. Such is the rapid advancement of digicams.

I had a look at that Nikon at DPReview.
First Nikon compact thas has inspired me for sometime.
A 7x zoom with a 1/1.7" sensor in that size is pretty remarkable. I would prefer a 24-170 rather than a 28-200 however that is a lot harder to design (in that size) and there will be a 21mm wide converter, so it could be a great hiking combo .
Love that DeLuxe look. Reminds me of the Epson RD1x (Cosina)
Could be an interesting Photokina…
