Dear friends:

How would you compare and contrast the Sub Zero Parka by Mountain Hardwear with the Mont-bell Permafrost Down Parka – or any other options?

I'm looking for the warmest, most weatherproof (just in case it gets wet), and overall best thing I can find.

Thank you greatly for your thoughts, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Aaron

The MH isn't light. It's built for serious abuse. It's warm and heavy-duty and affordable, but not light.

I too have and love a Neutrino Endurance. Phenomenally warm; good enough for anything in the lower 48. Excellent water resistance from the Pertex Endurance shell, great hood, and packs down tiny.

+1 for the Neutrino Endurance.

Also, word on the gear street is that Montbell will be releasing a hooded version of their Alpine Down Jacket – which *should* be less expensive than Rab and baffled as opposed to Rab's sewn through construction.

I've been waiting patiently for MB's iteration of the Alpine Down, otherwise the Rab Neutrino Endurance takes the cake IMO.

Hi, can any of you who own the Rab neutrino endurance comment on how you like yours fit? I have a small and medium sitting in my house trying to decide between the two. I have a 38+ chest (small is spec'd for 37, the medium for 40, so very much in between). The small does feel a tad tight in the chest when I move around with anything except a base layer on. Medium feels pretty roomy, but what is too roomy? I'm only 5'6ish 140-45 lbs, 31 waist. I tend to straddle small and medium in Patagonia (small gives a very "technical" fit in slim fit garments).
