Keeping the spectre for sure. It makes a wicked snowboarding shell (well fabric is a little fragile with metal edges when carrying, but going to fix that soon).

I'm going to pop by the factory soon and pester them, should ask what they think about a 2 ply anorak, maybe they have one in the pipeline.

I"m almost positive you saw the fleece at the Valhalla sale. They had boxes of them for like $15 (white and blue). It was fluffy fleece on the outside.

> I already have a Westcomb Specter, and a Montane Litespeed, but I'm walking around this morning thinking I should replace them both with a TNF Triumph Anorak.

Don't do it. The TNF doesn't breath that well. It's a fine emergency rain jacket. The kind you put in your pack when you don't expect rain, and if it rains you can drop your activity level to more or less standing around. Even moderate levels of activity overwhelm it. The Specter is significantly more breathable… not as good as the Litespeed, but way better than the Triumph.

The litespeed is a good windshirt. Personally, I like something that has a bit more air permeability… but I run really hot when active… letting more air that then typical <5CFM windshirt is really helpful to me.

… are you using it as a baselayer or layering it over another lighter layer? How well does it work as a baselayer?
I'm thinking about getting one for snowshoeing

I use mine as a midlayer for winter (snowshoeing)- if it's really warm, just a baselayer (Cap 1), if it's cooler I'll add the R1 over top- if it's cool and windy I add windshirt over base layer, if it's downright cold all three

I have used R1 bottoms on their own and they work fine, guessing the top would as well- I've always used my pullover in conjunction w/ a base layer on top though

I used it as a baselayer for cold weather hiking/skiing/snowboarding. quick dry and very comfy overall. The only minor complain is the fabric under the zipper is little stiff.

I ordered the pullover version… looks like my system will be a light merino T, the R1, a windshirt if needed, and my montbell UL vest if I have to stop for a while.

I'm with Willy. I use the pullover hoodie for cooler weather hikes. It is too warm for hiking in the summer, but make a great nights sleep for me when I am using a quilt.
Regards,
John
