There is no equal to these thin merino wool toesocks. Designed for runners, they make the perfect hiking liners as they keep your toes from rubbing together. I got mine at Seattle Running Company, but REI has a huge selection of them in various fabrics and heights. As I recall, they retail at $16.00 a pair.

Before I discovered these cool tools I was liberally lubing between my toes with Body Glide every few hours. In the words of Inspector Clouseau,”Not anymore!” I use the 49gm/1.7oz/pair mini crew, performance series Tetratsok. 70% coolmax, 25% nylon, 5% lycra. REI sells them for $12 by the pair or $10.80/pair for 3 or more pairs.

Because I own heels that are soft as a baby’s bottom, I use the Injinjis as liner socks and slip a pair of 42gm/1.5oz/pair Balega enduro socks over them. 78% drynamix polyester, 20% nylon, 2% elastane $10. NO ONE’S feet are as prone to blistering as mine and up to 25 mile runs I’ve had no problems with this set-up.

I’ve owned a few pairs of these toe socks for 3 years now, and I think they are super.

Worn them during a couple of 24 hr Rogaine’s, some Orienteering meets, andy place I expect to get a lot of friction on un-even terrain.

My other favorite sock is the Smartwool adrenaline. But, I will definitely try a pair of the “wool” Injinjis.
