I prefer a tipi style to a pyramid. The flat sides of a pyramid style offer more wind resistance than the curved (or nearly so) sides of a tipi. Don't worry about the floorless issue. It's simply not an issue for me and is highly liberating. I can walk or stoop into my shelter without taking off my shoes. I can nearly stand up to dress and I don't worry about damaging the floor. As for the rain coming in – I think that is an issue with nearly any tent with a sloping side which is a lot. Fortunately, the water doesn't pool on the floor and get stuff wet since I don't have a floor.
I started with a Moss Superfly IV to test the idea. However, the sides on it had a quite extreme curve so I sold it and am now using a Golite Hex 3. My ultimate goal is to get a tipi shelter or shelters from Kifaru.
