[Not sure if this the best thread for this]

Still/always tinkering with my shelter system, I took a MLD Trailstar on an overnight trip to Ranier last weekend.
I decided I wanted to try a SMD Serenity Net Tent with it. Lucky for me, I only live about 10 minutes away from SMD, I called and they were gracious enough to let me come over and pick one up while they were in a mad dash to load their van for the OR show. They were literally leaving within a half-hour.

Just thought I'd mention it.

So how did you like the combination?

I have used the Serenity net tent alone on good weather nights. I've used it with rectangular tarps, Gossamer Spinshelter and the Gatewood Cape on other nights, with great results.

I have also used it as only a ground cloth on warm bug free nights.

Steven,

I really liked the combination. There is a huge amount of space under the Trailstar. My only problems were all user-error: I haven't seam-sealed the Trailstar yet and I picked the first rainy night we've had in the PNW in this past month. Also, my first experience with the net tent was at the campsite, so I don't think I had it staked out well or the whole set-up high enough.

I might eventually go with a Bearpaw Pyra 2 (like in Travis Leanna's recent photos from Glacier) instead of the serenity, which seems to incorporate the center-pole design of the Trailstar well. I have another solo tarp set-up and the Bearpaw would make this a really nice 2-person combo. Still deciding though.
