Hey guys- Ive got a large
montbell bag cover I use as
a bivy here n there – I added
some Noseum mesh with duct tape to
the inside to cover the breathing
hole and was wondering if you had
any ideas on some light plastic or
other material I could use to keep it
up off my face a bit.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated
thanks!Aug 15, 2010 at 11:22 pm #1637729You

2 Stadium ballons.
They are long mylar baloons.Aug 16, 2010 at 9:35 am #1637791I have a couple of old aluminum tent pole
sections but only two and theyre kinda hard to
bend.Ill look for a hula hoop n cut a piece off of that
maybe.I know a good curved stick or two would probably be
around many stealth sites – if i dont come up with
anything Im satisfied with Ill try sum stix!thanks!
Aug 16, 2010 at 12:08 pm #1637828Look on kite buildng websites at kite spars, read the material descriptions and you can find out which ones will bend and how much. They are extremely light and cheap except shipping is expensive.
Aug 16, 2010 at 12:50 pm #1637852How about criss crossing your hiking poles over head and attach a guyline or do the same with sticks?
Aug 16, 2010 at 11:22 pm #1638017i dont use poles and guy lines are a little
too involved if I just wanna plop down in
tha dirt ;)Im keeping an eye out for some kind of plastic
or something like a car antenna maybe.I also need to glue a couple loops inside for a
"sleeve"Ill update if my solution isnt too wonky or
embarrassingly ghettocheers!
Aug 16, 2010 at 11:26 pm #1638019You might want to try some flexible tubing — look at the plumbing supplies in the hardware store. I have used it for constructing a "neck ring" for my dry suit, and have attached a length to an Oware bivy to see if it would work. Decided against it because the tubing weighs more than the bivy and that seems to defeat the purpose.
