I am contemplating purchasing a trapper's mug but I have a question. What does everyone use for handling the trapper's mug when cooking? In the winter I will have mittens/gloves, so that is a non-issue. Mainly I wondering about the warmer months. Do you just bring a single glove? MYOG pot holder?

Thanks!

I just leave a 1/8"+ space at the top of the mug and use my hands. Titanium cools very quickly once the heat is turned off.

I have one of the larger silicone bands from Trail Designs on the top of mine. This lets you pick it up right after cooking and also keeps from burning your lips when you’re drinking coffee. Love the Trapper…

The silicone lid trick is pretty cool, but I doubt it would work well with the Trappers Mug that doesn't have handles. I just use the pliers on my Leatherman Squirt to get it off the flame and into the insulated sleeve that came with it.

I have used my bandana also, or my "skull cap" if not wearing.

Also have used many times one of those thin neoprene "can coolers" you slip a cold can or bottle into. Those are very thin, light, and many times given away at events, and fit a wide range to containers, hot or cold.

I use a piece of Kevlar material. Kevlar is a very bad conductor of heat, so perfect for this.
The kevlar came from a cheapish wrist guard for butchers and the like from Ebay. I just cut it to length and slip over the mug. The mug and cover weighs a total of 44grams (1.5oz).
I can fill the cup to the brim and hold it no problems. The heat that does come through keeps your hands warm on chilly mornings.
