Is there a shelter material that last a lot longer under sunlight and UV than the silnylon stuff out there right now?

Silicon coated (not impregnated) nylon will do fine – as in the Kerlon 1200 fabric used by Hilleberg (triple coated).

While this is not a longer lasting material, it may prolong the life of any weather-resistant/proof textile.

Nikwax makes a spray-on product called Tent & Gear SolarProof:

I just applied this to my sil shelter, so can't attest to its effectiveness. They say one application can double the (UV) life of your gear. Who really knows but I figured it was worth a shot at 10 bucks.

Has anybody tried the Nikwax SolarProof treatment, meant to add a bit of DWR but also some UV protection?
