Ryan, yeah, it was frustrating, but at the same time I was out there enjoying nature, so it wasn't too bad.

Well, I'm off to REI to look at maps and figure out what went wrong.

I think the mystery of the phantom trailhead is solved. Anyone thinking of doing the Eagles Nest loop should read the edit at the end of my trip report since even the most recent version of the map is not current with conditions on the ground.
