I am leaning towards the quilt idea for my upcomming trip because I get too warm and like the venting options.

Do you just sleep right on the ground pad though? Or does anyone put anything between them and the pad?

Right on the pad. The only thing between me and it is whatever I'm wearing for clothing.

What if i'm sleeping in shorts, wouldn't that be uncomfortable?

I don't find it uncomfortable at all, YMMV tho

If you're using a torso pad you legs won't even touch it. I sleep right on my pad and when it gets really hot sometimes just in undies (not something anybody wants to see). I sleep on a CCF mat most of the time and this works out fine for me. I have also done this on the old thermarest ultralights (orange ones) and it was fine there too. When you're tired anything is comfortable.

Try it at home. Sleep on your pad with a blanket over you. If you hate it then you need to figure out something else. Most likely in shorts/t-shirt you won't even notice.

Which pad do you use?

My reason for asking is that some pads (ie: BA Clearview) would be VERY sticky on bare skin.

Evan,

Your Zrest should be quite comfortable next 2 skin. If not, buy 5 or six other lightweight pads like the rest of us, hoping each time that "this is the one" with the perfect balance of weight, comfort, and price!!!!!!

Seriously, if you don't like it then perhaps the lightest silkweight longjohn pants might work?
