I was reading Franco's thoughts on tent sagging in rain and a detail caught my attention–the possibility of the guylines slipping in the locks.

So I began to wonder if you retension the lines just before going to sleep and tie off the ends to prevent slippage, could this limit sagging and would it perform equally as good as if one put shock cord/surgical tubing guyline tensioners? This is excluding the 15% silnylon stretch that he mentioned.

Anybody try this?

In the meantime I shot a quick video on how I counteract sagging with the Contrail :

For me if slippage is likely to occur, because of the angle, it is obvious when I pull the line taut. If that happens I move the peg .
For others , depending on the cordage used, the guilines themselves may stretch particularly when wet.
Note that silnylon is not the only fabric that stretches, BTW…
