This weekend I got out for 3 days and took an old Thermarest CCF to determine if I could go back to non-inflatables. Surprisingly, I slept pretty well. So I could use help selecting a new CCF.
Now I hate comparing products from 2 cottage industries but … I am looking at:
Suluk46 Padded Frame Sheet
1/2 x 19 x 44, flat
102g, and
Gossamer Gear NightLight Torso
3/4 x 19 x 29, egg crate
108g
I'm leaning toward the Suluk44 (currently sold out). It's longer for the same weight. I think comfort might be comparable as the GG alternates thickness between 1/4 and 3/4.
I would expect to insert it flat into my next generation pack, probably an MLD Prophet or ULA CDT (love my Exos 34 but it's heavy). I am looking to stay warm to about 40F without supplement and be at least as comfortable as my Ridgerest. Both are scored for folding flat.
Can I get a witness? Are both compatable with the above packs? Warmth expectatons reasonable? Relative comfort of each? Compared to a Ridgerest?
Is this called obsessing? Thanks.
Paul
