I'm looking for something to wear while hiking yet still moderately light enough to put in the pack. Probably some sort of shell jacket. It has to be fairly durable and warm but comfortable enough to sleep in. It is summer right now so I'm hoping that when the temps start dropping, I'd be able to just bring this jacket and leave the MontBell down inner jacket at home.
It sounds like a vest would be perfect for what you're after. Find one with a 30 denier fabric. That should be durable enough.
