Has anyone experimented with, or heard of a backpack design that uses tent poles as the frame of a backpack?
I was wondering how it would work to add sleeves against the back of a pack where you could uses your tent poles as the frame?

You should contact Joe Valesko at ZPacks. Don't think he makes one with tent poles per se, but he does offer carbon stays as one of his options and alludes to having easy access to make use of them.
He can attach the stays on the outside or inside of pack.
I've thought of the same thing. I'm sure he could do it for you though.
I got a Blast 26 w/the stays option. They are 20 inches long . Got some 32 inch carbon pole stock from Fibraplex w/ 2 ferrules and made 2 20 inch sections and one one 6 inch to join them for my pole for my Hexamid.
My wife and I each have a Golite Jam2 and use the pole from our TarpTent Double Rainbow as a frame. She has been using this setup exclusively in our current nine-month backpacking tour of South America with excellent results. I have a 2008 Jam2, Men´s Large. She has a 2009 Jam 2, Women´s large. The tent pole fits both packs well, though her pack has a mesh backpanel and is more comfortable.
We fold the pole in half and then slide it into the backpanel of the pack, forming an A-frame that fits perfectly. It offers a solid structure for much improved support and carrying capacity.
We have had such success with this setup that I have even thought of switching to a free-standing two-pole tent design, so that we can each use one pole for our backpack frame.
