So what is this "revolutionary" Eddie Bauer WPB "Weather Edge" laminate?
What does their advertised "20K/25K" mean?
The rain parka made of this laminate looks OK & has a nice fold-away hood that can cover a helmet.

I copied and pasted the information below from the Eddie Bauer website.
"The first number in its 20,000/25,000 rating is the waterproofness: The fabric can withstand 20,000 mm of water suspended over its surface before moisture seeps through. The second number shows its breathability: In 24 hours, it allows 25,000 grams of water vapor to escape per square meter of fabric."
Further reading on the website seems to indcate that the jacket is constructed out of 2.5oz 12 denier nylon in a three layer construction with fully welded seams. They also mention that the jacket has a DWR treatment.
Hope that helps a bit.
Hey, thanks Jeff. Yes it does help. Looks fairly breathable, about like GTX PacLite.
No problem Eric. I still can't find any specific information about the proprietary weather edge laminate that Eddie Bauer is using for these jackets.
Eric,
REI has a great site that explains your question. I'm sure this will help. It compares many products.
