Hi, I will be hiking the John Muir trail with a friend starting August 23-Sept 3. We will start at Bishop Pass and end at the Cottonwood lakes pass.
Will pants, jackets, or longsleeve shirts be applicable for this section of the trail? What would you regard as essential for this part of the jmt?
Also, how frequent is water available on this part of the trail are their any sections where water sources are absent? I am planning on bringing a 32 oz nalgene bottle for carrying water is this enough?
Also if we were to need to exit in the Mount Whitney Zone (we have wilderness permits from Inyo Nat' Forest)due to injury/ food shortage would we be able to use trail crest? Are thier other exit options available in the whitney zone?
Thank You, and sorry for the long first post. -
