"A half billion or one billion dollars for a fab is about right."
That's extremely low for a modern fab, unless it's just a refurb rather than a new buildout.

I have a little sony dsc w-150 and though I had several lowe cases i decided to make one from the wind-shield screen bubble stuff that agg uses for pot cozys and duct tape. You can do a one piece cut except for the belt/shoulder-strap loop. I wrapped that almost all the way round the case and sewed it as well so it won't come loose and I'd lose the camera. Weighs 18 grams and is water-proof but not submersible! Any collision that hurts the camera would hurt it with the Lowe as well. You'd have to fall directly on the camera on a rock or something and even then it is probably more shock-proof. I Wear it on the belt in the front middle by the buckle where it's out of the way but mighty handy. I think the lowe case weighed @ 2.5 or 3 oz a lot of which was a rigid belt loop device that opened & closed with a snap and was admittedly handy…. and the zipper. Guess I'm a gram weenie!
