Moment End Vent Mod

To eliminate having to tie up the Moment end vent, with the practically zero friction grosgrain ribbon supplied, I implemented the mod shown. The view is from the door toward the inside of the end vent:

P6090044

Just a small piece of appropriate velcro secured to the tent body with some seam sealer. If the bond flakes on me, I can sew the Velcro to the body and seal it.

The EXTRA WEIGHT (ugh!) could be offset by trimming off the grosgrain ribbon.

Now I don't have to reach over my head as I am lying down to tie off the grosgrain. A simple pull-and-stick motion is all that is needed.

"Velc" closed, "Velc" open….voila!!

The end vents are quite effective in allowing or minimizing the flow of air through the Moment.

Door venting mod coming soon!

I cant believe how perfectly simple and effective that is. I'm going to go do that right now… I'm actually kind of blown away. i got my moment 3 months ago those little grosgrain ribbons have been driving me nuts.

The trick here is not the knot, a half knot works for me, but how you fold the vent (and door)
Vent . Grab the corner by the Velcro. Pull towards you and roll up. It should be about the size of a thin pencil when all done. Then do the half knot, reef knot, strangle knot, whatever…

I like golite's toggle thingy on their hut shelters. It probably stayed the same on the shangri-la shelters.

Hey Franco,

Nice video! I hope you intend to do more of these with the intention of teaching Tarptent techniques and showing some of your inovative experiments!

thanks for the video Franco! the issue i had with the grosgrain wasn't rolling, but tying it with cold fingers. i have been pushing the moment a bit.

Thank you for the comments.
Chris nice to see you "pushing" your Moment. Henry has had a foot of snow on his (using the optional cross pole), so it can take a bit of that stuff…
I will be doing some more videos with several of the other TT shelters.
BTW, I install zip pulls in the one I use.
