I recently finished my first few projects of my own design: a pair of gaiters and a hydration pack. Both are designed with running and dayhiking in mind.

The hydration pack is essentially a stuff sack with a slightly modified shape with some straps attached. I guess it's not fully MYOG since I took the straps off of a thrift store backpack. But it seems to work well.

The gaiters are made out of an UnderArmour shirt that no longer fits me. They're nice and light, wick well, and stay cool even with wool socks on. They're not designed for bushwhacking or overgrown trails. Just enough to keep debris out of my shoes while I trail run. They performed well on a good stretch of the Superior Hiking Trail last week.

I originally designed them with a loop that went under the foot, but found that if I tucked the ends under my laces it keeps enough tension on them to work. They look a little goofy and my sewing is not up to par just yet, but overall I'm pleased.
