Why the inner jacket instead of the inner parka? I'm curious because I keep going back and forth on which one.
THANKS

I personally chose the parka over the jacket. Seems like you would only wear the jacket in the cold… or cold enough to wear the jacket. If the weather is sufficient to have this on, then WHY NOT go for the parka? Especially for me… I pair with the UL Down Inner pants, and I use that in my sleeping system with my 30 degree down bag. No clue on temp lows, but I would say somewhere between 15 and 10 degrees. I tried to just sleep in the pants and jacket in about 50 degree weather, and it was fine. I vote for parka, no sense in not having a great down hood for like 1 oz.

Edit: e-omc is a great place and I got some stuff there; recommended for purchase.

I agree with Wallace. If you need to wear the Inner Jacket, then it's cold enough for the Parka. Extra protection and a Hood. Can't beat a Hood. It's only 8oz anyway. Not much more than the jacket. Love these things and Love e=omc.

They do sometimes go on sale, as I bought my Ex UL Down Jacket on sale a year or so ago. I suspect it was likely one of those get x% off your order for this holiday sale if you spend y amount of money. Have some patience and you'll eventually find it cheaper if you keep checking out the various holiday sales online. Though I understand you may not want to wait very long if you are planning on using it this summer.

Personally, I've found this type of jacket too warm for anything other then being in camp as its too warm to hike in; this includes hiking in 4 days of snow in the fall. So unless you get cold easy or plan on using it in winter, anything heavier with a hood shouldn't be needed.

I agree that its usually too warm to hike in. This is actually why I went with the parka though. It’s nice to have the hood in camp when it starts getting cold. The parka is on sale here for $132.00.

I have the parka as well. It is nice in camp and in the sleeping bag when the temps dip below freezing. I have the Mountain Hardware Phantom 32 bag and it dipped down to about 27 deg over Memorial Day this year in the local So. Cal mountains (High Creek). The MB Down Inner Parka and Pants did the trick.

I ordered the Inner Parka on Monday and it came yesterday (Tuesday). I'm 5'-9" at 152 lbs and the medium fits perfectly. It appears well made and it was made in China. The jacket weighed 8.35 ounces on my scale and the stuff bag was 0.25 ounces. This jacket will be perfect around camp at night and as a layer for sleeping in the cold.
