Don't think I've seen these mentioned, but REI's "Trekker Jr." poles weigh 6 oz without the baskets, and extend to 48" or so.
I use them, and am very pleased. (Especially with the price!)
May 29, 2010 at 8:09 pm #1615162I like these too. They are light, strong and cheap. Plus, I prefer aluminum over carbon. But I would rather have cork or foam handles instead of hard rubber. Does anyone know how to remove handles once they have been glued on?

Thanks
Jun 10, 2010 at 2:27 pm #1618740you could try blasting the handle with a hairdryer to soften the glue underneath, be careful not to damage the handle itself.
Jun 10, 2010 at 7:23 pm #1618849I've been wanting some of these poles also but would like to put cork grips on too. Where can you buy just cork grips, and are the stock grips smaller to fit kids hands?
