I am new to the site, so I do not know the proper “tread” requirements. Anyway I am looking for recomendations on shelters. I would like to purchase a three person tarp . Do any exist? If so, please let me know. Thanks

David Olsen of Oware USA makes a 3-person Cat 3 tarp. http://www.owareusa.com
Ron Bell of Mountain Laurel Designs makes the Grace 3.0 too. http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com
Both these guys post here regularly. You won’t find tarps that big in fabrics like Spinaker and Cuben, as the roll widths are too small w/out excess seams, so silnylon is the lightest choice. Also, with a tarp that big, you’ll want a caternary cut ridgeline, if not on the edges as well. I’d also look for one w/ lots of tieout loops. In high winds, a tarp that size has to deflect a lot of force. Check out the Advanced Tarp Camping article if you haven’t already.

I would start looking at pyramid shelters like the Hex 3, as opposed to A-Frame tarps
