we mustn’t overlook natural fibers. personally, i love wool. dries slower, but its other virtues more than make up for that.
i know outdoors people who wear (ultrafine egyptian) cotton windbreakers in canadian winters — breathes extremely well, kills the wind and waterproof-ness isn’t an issue.
