I am reading a book about Sandy Irvine (Fearless on Everest) . In that there is a mention of a Meta burner.That reminded me that we used to play with Meta (Metaldehyde) as a kid. That was the solid fuel burner for small steam operated toys like boats and trains.
Apparently the stuff is highly poisonous .
Has anyone tried it ?
It is made by Lonza in Switzerland.

Yes, that is where I found the full name for it, we always called that " meta ".
From memory it did not smell, but I could be wrong (it was over 40 years ago…)
