Hey all,
I’m looking for a new pair of boots… to be used for all day and multi day snow trips. Nearly all my trips are in the Olympics or the wet side of the cascades, so waterproofness is of prime importance. I’m planning on going up Mt Adams next month, and do a lot of snow scrambles all times of the year. So, I need something that is crampon compatible, and will work with snowshoes (I use MSR Denali Ascents.)
I’ve been using a pair of Chaco leather hiking boots which are not waterproof enough even with fresh waterproofing each trip. They also are not cramon compatible and are not stiff enough to kick steps in hard snow. I guess I’m trying to find the right balance between being stiff enough for scrambling and easy climbing and being able to walk comfortably easier trials.
I tried on the La Sportiva Trango S GTX, but the toe box was quite a bit too tight with heavy socks on. Any other suggestions?
