I currently use a MSR Pocketrockt which has a passible pack weight but, like all canister stoves, has the added expense and weight of the canister which is both wight and quid wasteful. Therefore, I am looking for a decent alcohol stove for two. I’ve seen the brasslite Turbo II-D advertised for up to two, but wonder as to its actual effectivness. Can someone advise me towrds a alcohol stove that serves 2 people well for dinner and occasional lunch on two day to 1 week trips. Its always just me and my wife and we use boil in bag method, most of the time. Also, tell me of what you think is the most weight efficient method of heat for two.
Thank you

If you need to heat more than one pot of water at once, use two stoves. Fuel usage will be the same (roughly) and the weight of the stove is negligible (in most cases).
I like Jim Woods Supercat stove, which is by far the easiest to manufacture and one of the most efficient. I think it weighs half an ounce. I’ve used it for myself and my wife for the two boil-in-bag meals (when we’re that hungry). While one meal is reconstituing, I’m boiling water for another meal. We eat the first meal and by the time we’re done with that one the second meal is ready to go.
Consider a ClikStand setup. Google ‘clikstand’ and you’ll see what I mean.
The alternatives to cannister stoves are only marginally more efficient. However, lots of folks switch for their own good reasons.
Fuzzy’s Little Stove (see zenstoves) has given me 5 months of trail cooking for 2 with a 1 liter pot. The stove is the pot support and the only other item needed is a windscreen. Another stove of this ilk is the Supercat, but I have no practical trail experience with it. It is supposed to be pretty efficient. These two stoves are MYOG, easy and free.
Another possibility is Esbit solid fuel. All you need is a pot support, a windscreen and a bit of foil to go under the tablet. Esbit is the most weight-efficient fuel. One tablet will do 2 cups of water.
I think the sith stove from minibull design would be a good choice. I currently own a minisith and nion stove. The nion takes its time but the minisith works pretty good for more than one person and the sith is faster and more efficent, with larger pots.
