I just bought a new Mont-bell Rain Trekker at the Oregon Mountain Community bricks and mortar store. They price matched the deal at Gearzone. I had been shopping for a Peak, but wanted to check out the fit anyway. Glad I did. A Large is just about perfect for me. I had been very concerned that the pockets might have moved down , but no my hipbelt rides under them. Same fabric as the Peak, same great pitzips. Interestingly Montbell also just released the Thunder Pass jacket which is heavier , but they list the same permeability for it , a little less ability in terms or rain penetration, but it has pitzips and starts at $99! They didn't have it at OMC or GZ, but I hope someone can check it out .

Not quite the same fabric but similar.

The Peak is a 12 denier shell with a 10 denier liner. The Rain Trekker is a 40 denier. Basically the same WP/B technology but more durable and thus heavier.

Since I am dedicating this jacket to backpacking, more durability sounds good to me because of abrasion from the pack. If you could comment on the new Mont-Bell lineup you would be doing everyone a favor. For me it's the pitzips most of all vs. EvENT stuff.
