HI all
does anyone have experience with this pack? I think it is similar to the Galaxy that had been tested here on Backpackinglight.com. What I found out is that the Galaxy has a seperate compartment.
Need a pack to haul heavier loads (probably up to 40lbs) and thought I’d ask before, coz I cannot get the pack here in Germany and so I cannot try it. I know it is risky…but..
Thanx so much and of course, any opinion or ideas are appreciated

I recently purchased a Perspective, but have not had a chance to use it in the field yet. I have checked the fit with a 30 lbs. load though.
With that weight there weren’t any signs that the suspension/harness system was overloaded.
Before I ordered the Perspective, I tried a Galaxy. The Galaxy is a more deluxe pack with much thicker padding on the back panel and hip strap, waterproof zippers (the Perspective’s pocket zippers aren’t waterproof), and a zippered lower compartment. The internal piece of fabric separating the compartments in the Galaxy has openings at either side which would allow tent poles or other long (but thin) objects to run the full length of the pack.
But the separator isn’t detachable, and it seemed to me that the convenience of having a separate compartment would be outweighed by the inconvenience of having to make sure the bottom compartment was packed tightly enough to support the contents of the upper compartment.
The Perspective I received (through Prolitegear) was without any observable defects and seems very solid. I think the thicker padding of the Galaxy is overkill and made the hip strap too stiff (as I think was noted in a review on this site). The frame sheet for the Perspective seems to be identical to the one used for the Galaxy, including the two flat aluminum strips (in addition to the thin aluminum dowels which are inserted into the hollow spaces in the frame sheet itself).
I will be keeping the Perspective, but having checked it out physically and packed it with my gear, I might have gone with the smaller Intuition. The reason being that the Perspective is quite wide at the bottom and I don’t have enough light gear to fill it properly (I like to keep the heaviest items right at the middle of my back).
One last thing, I contacted GoLite a couple times regarding item availability and features, and their representatives I talked to on the phone were very helpful and seemed knowledgable. Sorry for the long post, hope it helps.

Thank you very much for this comparison, and after reading it I tend to the Perspective mostly because i don’t like seperate compartments, especially if they are not detouchable…
