Here are a few photos from a trip last weekend to Death Valley NP where we did a cross country backpacking trip down Eureka Valley and then played car tourist around the rest of the park.

What were the temps?
The hottest we saw was 88F. Though it was the lack of shade all day that made it fell worse by mid afternoon. The night temps were in the 40's and 50's.

I suck at photography. But I bet if you got closer to that verbenia and did a "carpet" shot, it would be awesome.
Also, I think 88F is perfect hiking conditions :)
