wide brim or ball caps?

I am curious to know who perfers a ball cap to a wide brim hat and why.

I’ve been using a wide brim hat (a patagucci trim-brim) for a while now and it works well, but i’m thinking of trying out a ball cap for a change and wonder if those who use them have a problem with sunburn on the ears and neck. I’ve been looking at the

It really depends on where I’m hiking. I have typical Scot-Irish skin complexion which gives me a really solid tan when all the freckles connect. Until then however, I burn easily. SO in open, exposed areas (Like mountains above timberline), I definitely go with my wide-brimmed Kokatat Sunwester. In eastern forest, I use a light nylon ball cap. It’s lighter and cooler for me.

Thanks for your insight. As you can see my post was pretty messed up (I screwed-up the HTML) and as you have most likely already noticed I reposted the question in another thread.

To awnser your question. I am mostly hiking the Sierras and southern California areas for now.
