Have any Tarp users out there tried these clips or clamps? They were reviewed in Backpacker Magazine Gear Guide.
Seems like they would come in very handy in a storm situation if you really had to batten down the hatches!

Bump-question?
Jay,
I have used these tarp clips but can't I recommend them, although I do keep some (4) in the truck just in case. The problem is they don't grip that well and will pull out especially with a lighter tarp. With a heavy Polly tarp you can fold the edge to make it thicker and it will grip a bit better but with Sil I don't think you can fold the fabric enough. The plastic grip is also kind of rough and I think if you could get it to pinch enough you might risk damaging your tarp.
Hope this helps, Kevin.
They are fine for a poly tarp, but don't grip enough for silnylon or other thin slippery material.
They do work if you put a coat of seamseal or other on the area where the clip would go. Some have used thin pieces of rubber (balloon?) to hold the clips in place.
They could possibly put a little too much wear in the area where the clip is attached. The clip could stress the material enough in strong winds to cause the loss of some water proofness?
Thanks Kevin that helps—I will hold off on the big purchase…OK–Next gadget!!What the latest and greatest out there?

The greatest gadget out there? Well, these look absolutely vital, I'd say: http://bit.ly/ay3oEU ;)
I use them in the house to cover windows if trying to darken a room.
These clips use a sliding lock, with a quick release. You can too easily touch the quick release tab and loosen the grip.
