i personally like a mac cat deluxe size (or "the edge") from warbonnet combined with a "grizz beak" from 2qzq… an awesome, awesome system

look into it before buying a huge tarp. i have a feeling some of these guys with massive tarps are just car camping, b/c a lot of the places i camp i couldn't use a tarp that big

Just an FYI: Brian of OES posted a couple days ago on HF that he has completed his degree, is moving into larger digs and will have more time to devote to his tarp making. Hopefully this will improve his turn around times. He does make a top notch tarp and worth the wait in any case.

I own a WBBB DL 1.1 hammock and OES MacCat Deluxe in Silnylon. It's a good setup and quite comfortable, but not quite as light as going with a Tarptent or similar style shelter. I'll carry an extra pound to sleep well at night any time.

I've ordered and paid for an OES tarp about 3 weeks ago and have not received it. I have emailed Brian twice with my PayPal transaction ID and have not even heard from him at all. I am very upset about this as he has my money & I have nothing. He said he could get the tarp out in 3-5 days. Just thought I'd let you know. He emailed me fine when asking questions about a trap but now NOTHING! I know he is supposed to be in grad school but not hearing after 2 emails is a bit much. I went to grad school too but could have at least answered emails if running a business.

Not to pile it on, but I also sent him 2 emails about a week ago with no responses. I wonder if something might have happened to him?

BTW – Pam if you are really worried just file a grievance with Paypal and they will work with you to clear it up.

I've been dealing with Brian for several years now. My experience (and that of others) has been that Brian is a terrible communicator and there is no way of knowing whether he will respond to a given email or not. Once you do get through to him and get an order in, he's pretty reliable at that point and there's really no need to worry on whether he will come through with your order. He does deliver a fine product at a good price. Personally, I don't have the time for that and got tired of dealing with him and now make use of the other fine tarp options out there. I do get a bit frustrated with posters when I see people at HF and elsewhere continually refer all new tarp inquiries to OES, knowing that many customers will be frustrated and that he cannot possibly fulfill all their orders. People at HF are fairly protective of Brian and generally discourage any critical postings about this. He is a nice kid, contributes positively to the HF community, is busy in school and is supporting himself with this business. So if you have the time and patience and want to spin the roulette wheel, give it a shot.

Want to update and let you all know my tarp arrived today! As others have said even if he doesn't communicate after your initial order at least your product arrives.

It is a very nicely done tarp with great sewing, etc. and I'm glad I have it.

I was just worried that I may never get it since he didn't respond to my last 2 emails. If he had answered and told me in would be a few weeks or so that's fine but when you don't hear anything you start to wonder what is going.
